Tally — Privacy Policy
Effective Date: February 10, 2026 · Updated: October 15, 2026
Tally ("the App") is a workout logging application developed by Vegh Labs LLC ("we", "us", "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how the App handles your data.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Display name — collected during onboarding to personalize your experience.
- Workout data — exercises, sets, reps, weights, workout ratings, and notes that you log during workouts.
- Program configurations — weekly workout schedules and day-type assignments you create.
- Feedback — a message that you send from the App, with an optional email address. The App adds your display name, your device and App version, and a short summary of your training (for example, how many workouts you completed). We email a copy of each feedback message to the Tally team, so we can read and answer it. To delete that copy, write to support@tallyworkout.app.
Information collected through sign-in:
- Email address and authentication data — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifiers provided by those services (e.g., email, user ID). We use this solely for account authentication and data sync.
Information collected automatically:
- Anonymous analytics — we use PostHog to collect anonymous, privacy-friendly usage analytics. PostHog does not collect personally identifiable information. These analytics help us understand how the App is used so we can improve it.
- Audio data — if you use voice input, audio recordings are temporarily sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription. Audio data is not retained after processing.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the App's core workout logging features.
- To sync your workout data across your devices when you sign in.
- To personalize the App experience (e.g., greeting you by name).
- To generate AI-powered workout suggestions based on your workout history (processed securely; see Section 4).
- To transcribe voice input into text for logging workouts (processed securely; see Section 4).
- To improve the App through anonymous usage analytics.
3. Data Storage & Sync
Tally is designed with an offline-first architecture. All workout data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData.
If you choose to sign in, your data is synced to our cloud infrastructure hosted on Supabase (built on PostgreSQL, hosted on AWS). This enables cross-device access and backup. You can use the App without signing in — no cloud sync will occur in that case.
Connected AI assistants
When you connect an AI assistant (Claude, the Muse app by Meta, or another MCP client), it can read your workout history and planned workouts, and it can add or change planned workouts, and log, change or delete finished workouts. It does this only when you ask it to. An assistant connects with an OAuth sign-in or with an API key that you create in the app. A Read only key cannot change anything. A Read and plan key cannot change finished workouts. To end OAuth access, remove the connector in the assistant or sign out of Tally in the app. API keys do not expire, and signing out does not end them: revoke a key in the app under Settings → API keys. We do not send your data to an assistant on our own.
From your Tally preferences, a connected assistant reads only your weight unit (and, after the next app update, your time zone), so it plans in the right unit and on the right day. For each request it makes, we keep a short technical record (which tool, the result, the dates involved, timing) for up to 180 days to find and fix problems. It never includes exercise names, notes, or weights.
If you connect an AI assistant to Tally, it can save the goals, schedule, session length, equipment, and injuries or limits you tell it, so it can plan your workouts. You can see and clear this information in Settings → What your assistant knows. It is deleted when you delete your account.
If you ask your assistant to send feedback to Tally, we store that message with your account ID, the kind of feedback, which assistant sent it, and the time, so we can reply. This is the only text from your assistant conversations that we store with your account, apart from what the assistant saves for planning above. It is deleted when you delete your account. We also email a copy of each feedback message to the Tally team. To delete that copy, write to support@tallyworkout.app.
4. AI Features
Workout suggestions: Tally offers optional AI-powered workout suggestions. When you use this feature, relevant workout history is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. We do not send your name, email, or any personally identifying information to Anthropic — only anonymized workout data (exercises, sets, reps, weights). Anthropic's data usage policies apply to data processed through their API.
Voice transcription: When you use voice input, audio recordings are sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription. Audio data is processed in real time and is not retained after transcription is complete. No personally identifying information is included with the audio data.
5. Third-Party Services
- Supabase — cloud database and authentication.
- Apple Sign In / Google Sign In — authentication providers.
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI-powered workout suggestions (anonymized data only).
- OpenAI (Whisper) — voice-to-text transcription (audio not retained after processing).
- PostHog — anonymous, privacy-friendly analytics.
- Resend — email delivery; sends the Tally team a copy of each feedback message.
- RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management.
We do not sell your data to any third party.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained as long as you have an active account. When you or an assistant delete a finished workout, or an assistant changes one, we keep the earlier content for 7 days so it can be restored. Then we delete it. You can delete your account and all associated cloud-synced data directly from the App's Settings screen. Alternatively, you may contact us at support@tallyworkout.app to request data deletion. Local data on your device can be deleted by uninstalling the App.
7. Children's Privacy
Tally is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or on our website. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
